[Update 12 March – See Update at this link for updated registration instructions]
Singapore Airlines is offering 5,000 miles for new members signing up to their KrisFlyer program. In addition, another 5,000 points is up for grabs by flying on an eligible Singapore Airlines flight prior to the end of September.
To gain the first 5,000 points, you need to sign up to the program using the promotion code KFACQPU, and join by the end of March.
After that, the second lot of 5,000 points just requires a Singapore Airlines fligh by 30 Septmber. There are some conditions in order to gain the 5,000 points. The flight needs to be booked on SingaporeAir.com, and include your Krisflyer number. The terms and conditions also state that it needs to be a return trip, departing from Australia.
If you are not likely to take that flight, the promotion may be worthwhile, as Krsflyer miles may be converted to Velocity Points. The exchange rate for this is 1.35:1, so you would get 3,700 Velocity Points if you make this conversion
5,000 KrisFlyer miles is a decent sign-up bonus just for registering
for a frequent flyer account. One thing to watch, though, is that KrisFlyer miles expire after 36 months, regardless of activity.
