Qantas has announced that its Frequent Flyer members will be able to earn Qantas Points on Uber trips to and from selected airports. The new partnership kicks off on Novembers 3, and will offer a points rate based on your status.
The new partnership comes shortly after the announcement that Uber will no longer offer SPG points.
Earning Qantas Points through Uber
Under the new partnership there are a couple of things that need to be kept in mind. Firstly, points are only offered on trips that start or end at an eligible airport. Secondly, you do need to commence the booking process through the Qantas App.
At the moment, there is no linkage between the Qantas App and Uber. Come 3 November, however, a new Uber option will appear in the app.
The earn rate is based on a sliding scale. In general, the higher your status, the higher the points earn. The earn rate for the various status levels is
- Bronze: 1 Qantas Point per dollar spent on airport Uber rides
- Silver: 2 Qantas Points per dollar
- Gold, Platinum, Platinum One: 3 Qantas Points per dollar
The eligible airports for earning points are:
Adelaide, Avalon, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Cairns, Canberra, Gold Coast, Hobart, Maroochydore, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney, Toowoomba, Townsville
