IHG introduces new elite level – Spire Elite

IHG has begun rolling out its new Elite Tier – and it’s called Spire Elite. The new level fits in above the Platinum which had previously been the top level in the club.

The new level will be awarded to members that achieve a total of 75 nights of eligible stays, or earning 75,000 elite qualifying points. Members who achieve this level will receive a red card, as shown in the diagram above.

The benefits of the various levels are shown below.  The additional benefits of the new level are firstly an increased status bonus, paying out a 100% bonus, compared to the 50% bonus paid by platinum.

The other main benefit is the Bonus Choice that may be made upon achieving Spire Elite. The choice available are either 25,000 bonus points, or nominating a friend or family member for a free boost to Platinum status.

In conjunction with the new level, the requirements to achieve Gold and Platinum have also been reduced. Gold will require 10 hotel nights or 10,000 elite qualifying points and Platinum 40 nights or 40,000 elite points in a calendar year.

That’s down from 15 nights or 20,000 points for Gold and 50 nights or 60,000 points for Platinum. This is the same as the existing ‘fast track’ offer, without the need to stay with at least three or four different hotel brands each year
