Qantas Frequent Flyer has introduced a new program allowing members to earn points on buying movie tickets. Qantas Movies is a new addition to the Qantas Points site, which allows members to purchase vouchers to movies.
The program pays out at two Qantas frequent flyer points for every dollar spent on movie tickets at a participating cinema partner. Current partners include Greater Union,  Hoyts, Event Cinemas, BCC, Village Cinemas, together with a number of independent outlets. This likely covers most of the cinemas across Australia.
How It Works
In order to get the Qantas Points, you will first need to buy a movie voucher on the  Qantas Movies website. Actually, you will need to buy at least four vouchers, as this is the minimum purchase – fortunately they are valid for five months, and don’t all have to be used together.
To use the voucher, you will need to present at the ticket office at your cinema, and present the voucher. This will then be exchanged for a ticket for your choice of movie.
As mentioned, you will need to purchase at least 4 vouchers at a time. There is also a maximum of 10 vouchers that any member can purchase in a 24 hour period.
The vouchers themselves are valid for a standard movie session. There is some scope in the rules to allow an upgrade fee to be paid at the cinema if some type of non standard seat is desired.
For the most part, they are valid for all sessions, however, in the case of Hoyts, they are not valid for movies after 5pm on Saturdays.
