BP and Velocity previously advised that they were planning on a partnership that would allow members of the Velocity program to earn points on fuel and in store purchases at BP service stations across Australia. While this had been expected to commence in the first quarter of the year, there were some delays that pushed things back a bit.
Late in March, BP made a submission to the ACCC seeking authorisation for some aspects of the partnership. For a Velocity member, the points of interest in that submission revolve around the earning rates that are proposed.
From the application lodged with the ACCC, the important parts for a Velocity member are:
|Start Date||16 April, 2015|
|Earn Rate Fuel||2 points per 1 litre, with a maximum of 150 litres per transaction|
|Earn Rate In-store||2 points per dollar spent. Excludes tobacco, lottery tickets, pre paid mobile cards, etc. Capped at $100 per transaction.|
|Other||Will be able to redeem points for BP Gift Cards|
Of course, at this stage, this is all subject to confirmation, but certainly gives some indication of what is likely to be the initial offering under the partnership. Whatever the case, we should be finding out more in the coming week.
