It may be here a little earlier than expected, however, Accor have updated their website with the ability to convert to Velocity Points. The ability to convert to Velocity Points was first announced back in July. At that time, the announcement was for the conversion to be available from the end of September.
The updated made to the terms and conditions, confirms the expected exchange rate of points as:
For Velocity Frequent Flyer (Virgin Australia), the conversion rate is:
4,000 Le Club AccorHotels points = 4,000 Velocity points
Conversion of Le Club AccorHotels points to Velocity is made by requesting the conversion through your Le Club AccorHotels account:
The ability to auto-convert to Velocity also appears to have been set up. There is no specific rule mentioned for Velocity, so it will likely be using the standard rule. According to the standard rule, requires an earning of at least 2 points before the automatic sweep comes into play.
This exchange rate matched the previous existing rate available for conversion to Qantas Points, although that too, seems to have changed, with the website now specifying:
For Qantas Frequent Flyer (Qantas Airways), the conversion rate is: 2,000 Le Club AccorHotels points = 2,000 points.
Another change that has been made on the Qantas front, is that it is now possible to set up an auto-conversion process, so that any points earned in Le Club AccorHotels are automatically converted to Qantas Points. The specific wording around this is:
For Qantas Frequent Flyer (Qantas Airways), automatic conversion takes
place starting when the member earns 1 Le Club AccorHotels point.
