The AAdvantage program of American Airlines and the Dividend Miles program of US Airways merged in late March. As part of the celebrations of the merger, the newly combined AAdvantage program is offering bonus points when purchasing miles.
As is typical with this type of promotion, the number of bonus points is based on a sliding scale, with the number of bonus points on offer generally increasing as the number of points purchased increases. The bonus scale for the current offer is shown in the following table.
|Miles purchased||Bonus miles|
|6,000 – 9,000||1,500|
|10,000 – 19,000||3,500|
|20,000 – 29,000||7,500|
|30,000 – 39,000||15,000|
|40,000 – 54,000||22,500|
|55,000 – 69,000||30,000|
|70,000 – 84,000||40,000|
|85,000 – 99,000||50,000|
The bonus on offer range up to a 60% bonus at the top end of the scale.
The AAdvantage program can offer some quite reasonable redemption options, so this promotion is something that could be investigated for decent oneWorld redemptions.
The offer is described on this page.
